Theatre Photographer Glasgow

I have specialised as a theatre photographer, professionally for over 10 years, though my interest in theatre and this specialised area of photography goes much further back to when I studied theatre at Glasgow University. Many people often ask what makes my images so unique and it is all down to a love and understanding of the subject rather than any particular technical skill. I have often observed that the best wildlife photographers are naturalists first and photographers second and it is no different with this branch of photography.

My work as a theatre photographer includes most of Scotland’s leading theatre companies such as the Citizens’ Theatre and the Tron Theatre in Glasgow and the Royal Lyceum and the Traverse Theatre in Edinburgh as well as the Perth Theatre and Pitlochry Festival Theatre. I also work extensively with the National Theatre of Scotland, Scottish Opera and many touring companies such as Grid Iron and Rapture.

In recognition of my work as one of Scotland’s leading theatre photographers, I have received numerous national and international awards which include an Associateship of the British Institute of Professional Photography (BIPP) and the Royal Photographic Society (RPS).

In addition to working with theatre companies, I also specialise in actors’ headshots. These require a particular skill, as headshots have to fulfil certain technical requirements, as well as communicating the personality of the actor. During a sitting, I spend a lot of time getting to know a client and always make sure they are happy with the headshots before they leave. I am currently recommended by Pat Lovett Associates to provide headshots for actors on their books.
