Architectural & Interior Photographer Glasgow

When choosing architectural photographers in Glasgow, it is important to make sure the photographer has the appropriate equipment. The photography of architecture and interiors requires the use of a shift lens, which corrects converging vertical lines. These are created when the plane of the camera is no longer parallel to the subject or plane of focus, a common problem when tilting a camera upwards in order to include the top of a building.

Sometimes converging verticals can be used to artistic effect in architectural photography but it is always better to the have the option to correct this. I always use a shift lens in architectural photography, so the architecture is recorded as it was originally envisaged and not distorted by the lens.

It is possible to correct vertical lines after the image has been taken using software. The problem with this however is that the original image is stretched in order to achieve the effect, resulting in a loss of quality.

Light, is another a crucial aspect of architectural photography. Before photographing a building or interior, I always visit the location beforehand to decide on the best time of day to capture it, then visit when the weather is appropriate. There is no point in commissioning images that have been taken in unfavourable lighting and I always endeavour to produce images that will be worthy of the amount of creativity and hard work that has gone into the creation of the architecture in the first place.
